Is Counselling for me?

Counselling offers a supportive, caring, non-judgemental, safe and confidential space in which you can share your thoughts, feelings and concerns with another person who is not in your everyday work, social or home life.

By allowing yourself the opportunity to talk about the things that are troubling you in a safe environment you may gain greater understanding and perspective. This insight may make these troubles feel less painful and uncomfortable.

With insight and understanding you may decide to make changes in your life - although you may find that some changes may happen naturally and sometimes unexpectedly. When facing change counselling offers the opportunity to explore choices & options to help you make your own decisions and to put your chosen steps into practice.

What can I discuss with a counsellor?

• Depression
• Anxiety
• Stress
• Anger
• Abuse
• Bereavement
• Relationship difficulties
• Sexuality
• Suicidal feelings
• Bullying
• Exam stress
• Low self-esteem
• Loneliness
• Traumatic experiences
• Work difficulties
• Family life
• Personal growth

Can you offer crisis counselling?

Sorry but I do not offer a crisis counselling service. If you feel suicidal, desperate or believe that you may harm someone it may be appropriate to contact your GP, NHS24, Samaritans or Copeline.

Are Personal Development & Self Awareness sessions for me?

Personal Development and Self Awareness sessions can be delivered as group workshops or as one to one sessions. The sessions offer structured steps and processes that may allow individuals the opportunity to reflect upon their own learning experiences, work performance, motivation, achievement, weaknesses and strengths. Some individuals prefer this approach to gaining self awareness as an alternative to person centred counselling.

As you gain greater awareness you may decide to take the next step and prepare an action plan for personal, educational or career development. Personal Development Planning (PDP) may allow you to define and explore your goals and find ways to turn them into reality. It may also enable you to gain confidence and the ability to clearly define your skills & qualities when it counts. This ability can be particularly useful when making job applications, attending interviews or applying for a course of study.

Group workshops can be delivered to support projects within an Educational, Social Care or Community Initiative environments on request.
